The Artiste Managers Association In Nigeria – AMAN in its creative industries networking tour of the Musical Copyright Society Nigeria MCSN, has called on the Musical Copyright Society Nigeria about the need for better welfare and protection of the rights of Artiste Managers while discharging their duties. It will be recalled that over the years, the Artiste Managers Association In Nigeria – AMAN has held programs to help facilitate the promotion and protection of rights and welfare of Artiste Managers within the creative industries in Nigeria. The President of the association Sir Collins Ifeanyi Onwuneme Ajereh Enebeli aka Mavin Grandpa, while speaking to those present during the visit, first thanked MCSN for their support during the maiden edition of the AMAN AWARDS, which was held in 2023. He further stressed the need for all hands to be on deck to ensure that Artistes get their proper entitlements and for Artiste Managers to be well equipped with the requisite knowledge needed to steer their ships in the right direction to get to their desired destinations for a more robust and growth friendly industry. In his words, “there is a need for Artistes to learn how to protect their works to prevent unnecessary exploitation from anyone they are working with.” He further advised that “before going into any contractual relationship, that there should be a proper documentation of the agreement to forestall further exploitation from those they work with as failure to do so could lead to regrets and heartaches that comes with not protecting one’s works by ensuring that a proper reward system is captured in the contract where all parties involved know from the start what is due to them.
The Global Spokesperson For the Artiste Managers Association In Nigeria – AMAN, Karifest Duchess Onyekaah Esq., while speaking, shed more light on some of the programs undertaken by the Artiste Managers Association In Nigeria – AMAN, to equip its members professionally towards enhancing the professional growth of its members, and stressed the importance of the vital role of the AMAN ACADEMY and the AMAN FIRESIDE CHAT as platforms for enhancing the mental, social and emotional needs of the members, in filling the gap created over time in the life of some of our members. In her words, “while not replacing or trying to replace their families, we are working very hard in AMAN, towards ensuring that our members bond with each other as a family, by making AMAN a home and a family that provides succour, support and emotional fortress for members to bond as a family, united in the AMAN SPIRIT of love, compassion, courage, unity of purpose, justice, equity and fairness, having recognised the need to fill up the emotional gap created by the detachment members experience daily, having left home in the pursuit of their dreams. Hence, we deemed it necessary to provide AMAN as a home for our members, many of whom are youths in their prime, who deal with issues resulting from emotional and mental health concerns, and so far, we have been able to achieve considerable positive results and recorded character transformations in a positive light as milestones achieved.
